‘Go and tell the others’ (Matthew 28:10) – By Father Bill Charlton

Peter and John found the fullness of faith through the good news brought to them by a woman, Mary Magdalene. At first Mary mistook the Risen Christ for a gardener, until Jesus made himself known and asked her to ‘Go and tell the others.’ Down through the ages, women have been wonderful evangelizers. They have passed on the Christian faith from generation to generation.

On Easter Day we celebrate with great joy, our risen Saviour. Jesus died and rose again for all. Let us be challenged by this Easter message as were John and Peter, so that we may be caught up in the joyful privilege of sharing the Good News. Women, men, girls and boys, the new life of Easter is for you. To pass on the Easter message is the vocation of everyone. Jesus asks you, just as he asked Magdalene, ‘Go and tell the others’.  Let us share our Easter joy with everyone we meet.

Christ is risen, alleluia!

Messages from Our Churches

Anglicans

As the Archbishops said, we are not closing our churches in this time of national and international crisis.  Public services are suspended but the Church is alive and prays. In all our parishes of the Benefice of Whorlton, the clergy and ministers will keep praying on behalf of all people who live in Hutton Rudby and other villages of the Whorlton Benefice. Daily Eucharist will be celebrated by one of our priests, all of you are welcome to join the service on-line in a special YouTube Channel called Whorlton Church.  During this time of crisis it is important that each one of us find time for prayer. St Teresa of Avila, the great Spanish mystic said: Nada de turbe (let nothing trouble you), God will suffice. So, with this faith in our compassionate God, let us pray for one another. But let us also be obedient to civil and ecclesial authorities who work for our wellbeing. Stay calm and trust in God’s providence as nothing will happen to us without His knowledge and will. God bless all of you. Robert.

Methodists

Because of the current situation, all events and meetings at the Hub have been cancelled until further notice.  There is also information on http://www.methodist.org.uk.  Worship is also suspended in all Methodist Churches.  It is hoped to open Chapel on Sunday mornings between 10 am and 11.30 am for people to pop in for prayer.  There will be music and prayers to read.
