This is the fourth and final part of The Rev. Canon Peter Bristow’s Sermon delivered in February to the congregation of All Saints’ Church.  We hope you found his words relevant and meaningful, as we did.

Part 4 of 4       ‘Ask, it will be given; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened’. By The Rev. Canon Peter Bristow

We are told at the end of Matthew’s Gospel to go out “and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…”  We MUST share our God given faith. Don’t say, I can’t, that’s not me. Let the Spirit of God do it through you…  You are “to ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you. For the one who asks ALWAYS receives…”.  In the Parable of the Talents the man who hid his talent said he hid it because he was afraid of his exacting master. We are commanded to use our gift of faith  Yes, we may feel inadequate to the task. But we must just pray to the Spirit for his strength because “the Spirit prays through our weakness.”  I challenge you this next year to pray that the Lord Jesus will call just one person to come to faith through your prayer. It may be yourself, a family member, a  friend, a neighbourbring yourself to church, invite that other person when appropriate opportunities arise. Be willing to speak of who Jesus is for you. Exercise your particular ministries and gifts because this enhances the church’s work but also builds your confidence to share faith.  We are truly in the year of the Lord’s Favour and Good News is really Good News for everyone as we are all destined for the full presence of God. We are told in our receiving Holy Communion, eternal life begins here and now in our building of God’s Kingdom …
