Discovering Gospel values and the meaning of life in film.

This time we are going to reflect on the question of love, compassion, acceptance and forgiveness presented in the British drama:

PRIEST

Directed by Antonia Bird who reveals some of the challenges that Roman Catholic clergy face in their life and ministry. This film highlights there is no future for any church that disregards love, forgiveness and truth about the condition of human nature. It is a very touching story of two priests working in a deprived area of Liverpool. Both of them conceal secrets, which are unacceptable in traditional circles of the Roman Catholic Church. But at the same time, both of them are wounded healers battling not only their own inner demons, but also other people’s difficulties of life, the insensitivity of the Church authorities, and the complicated ethical dilemmas of their parishioners. Will love, compassion and forgiveness win through?
